In an effort to help PIs and departmental staff limit cost transfers associated with projects being transferred to IU, ORA has added a Revision Type option of Anticipated Transfer to the KC Proposal Development Document which should be selected in combination with the Proposal Type of Revision (except Supplement) for internal routing purposes only. This will allow a preliminary routing of a transferring sponsored project and generate a Institutional Proposal ID (IPID) needed to establish an Advanced Account. Requesting an Advanced Account is made through the KC Grants Module and will help limit the need for cost transfers.
Once a full transfer proposal is ready for submission to the sponsor, please route a KC Proposal Development Document with a Proposal Type as New, adding a note indicating the previously generated IPID.
A KC Proposal Development document routed as an Anticipated Transfer should only be used for projects being moved to Indiana University when the former institution has not yet submitted the request to the sponsor to transfer the award. Depending on the sponsor, the transfer document may be known as a Relinquishing Statement, Change of Grantee, or Termination of Award. The KC document will be excluded from institutional data and reports.
