Access Kuali Protocols
Note: For the best experience, use Chrome or Firefox as your browser for accessing Kuali Protocols.
- Go to One.lU <https://one.iu.edu/>
- Search for "Kuali Protocols" or "IBC" or "Biosafety"
- Click on the IBC task icon entitled "Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Protocol Submissions" and enter:
- Username: <enter your IU SSO username>
- Password: <enter your IU SSO password>
- You will be directed to the Kuali Protocols Manage Protocols screen which will automatically load a list of all protocols you have access to view or edit.
Kuali Protocols navigation
The Kuali Protocols main navigation menu is on the left of the screen and includes the following tabs:
- Manage Protocols lists protocols in which YOU are listed as PI or personnel. Reference the Quick guide for researchers for more information about Manage Protocols.
- Protocols Assigned to Me lists all protocols assigned to you for review as part of a submission.
- Events Assigned to Me lists ONLY protocol Reportable Events assigned for your review as part of a reportable event submission.
- Meetings & Agendas will list all published meetings, clicking the date of the meeting will open the meeting agenda and all items on the agenda for that meeting.

Sort a list of protocols
Click a column header in the protocol list to sort by that column in ascending or descending order.
Set and save filters to manage your reviews
In Protocols Assigned to Me
- Click the filter button (triangle icon) at the top of the screen between the magnifying glass icon and the "Saved Filters" dropdown.
- The Protocols Assigned to Me list can be filtered by:
- Title
- Number
- Type
- PI
- Submission Type
- Review Type
- Submitted
- Status
- Assignment
- DMR Determination Due Date (not used)
- Approval Date
- Continuing Review Date
- Expiration Date
- Revision Due Date
- Review Deadline
- Ancillary Review Status
- Committee Date
- The Protocols Assigned to Me list can be filtered by:
- Under Filter Rules, select +Add Rule to apply each rule. For example, add the rules below to filter IBC protocols with a review deadline in the next 30 days.
- Where | Type | is equal to | IBC
- And | Review Deadline | in the next | 30 days
- Click Choose Columns under Table Column Visibility to select/unselect columns to view in the list (Columns by default are: Title, Number, Type, PI, Submission Type, Review Type, Submitted, Status, Assignment, DMR Determination Due Date). For example, uncheck DMR Determination Due Date, and check Committee Date and click Save at the bottom of the dialogue box.
- Click into the Save these As box below Filter Rules, enter a short title for your filter, and click the Save button to the right of your entry.
- Click Saved filters at the top of the screen to confirm your new filter is listed.
- Before saving another filter, or to reset the list view, click Saved Filters, select No Filter or click Clear All Rules in the Filter Rules box, and refresh your browser.
In Events Assigned to Me
Reviewers may be assigned both a reportable event and a submission review and will complete a review for each.
The Events Assigned to Me list contains five columns: Event Type, Description, Status, Event Date, and Recorded Date. Although the default view can be filtered using the same steps as above, it does not need to be filtered. Once you submit your incident review, it will disappear from your Events Assigned to Me list.
In Meetings & Agendas
The Meetings & Agendas list contains five columns: Date, Time, Committee, Location, and Status.
