Several federal sponsors require institutional certification at the proposal stage that key personnel have a current COI Disclosure on file. A COI Disclosure is considered current if it has been completed or updated within the last rolling year.
Effective January 30th, KC will display a warning notification if any individual listed on the PDD’s Key Person tab has an incomplete COI (Researcher role) and is submitting to the following sponsors/prime sponsors:
- Department of Health & Human Services
- Examples include NIH, AHRQ, HRSA, CDC
- National Science Foundation
- National Aeronautics & Space Administration
- U.S. Department of Energy
This warning will still allow the document to be routed but is designed to alert PIs of an outstanding COI disclosure requirement in preparation for new research security requirements being implemented in May. At that time, the warning will transition to an error, which will require all key persons listed in the KC PDD Key Person tab to have a completed COI (Researcher role) on file in order to submit the document into routing. ORA will issue a listserv announcement once that transition date is finalized.
New COI Warning Notification:
At least one individual does not have a current COI disclosure on file or does not have the COI Researcher role selected in their disclosure as indicated with a red X by their name. All key personnel must have a current COI disclosure with a Researcher role. Access one.iu.edu to complete the COI disclosure.
