Effective January 1, 2024, the DHHS Executive Level II salary rate limitation is $221,900. The equivalent Academic 10-month salary limitation is now $166,425.

This salary limitation applies to the institutional base salary rate of pay. Therefore, the salary limits are applied relative to the FTE and effort percentage charged to an award.
Although it is ORA’s recommendation that all impacted proposals start using the new salary cap immediately, it is the unit's choice whether to make adjustments reflecting the new salary cap for in progress applications for the NIH February 5th deadline. All applicable proposals due after the February 5th deadline will be required to use the new salary cap.
We are working on updating the budget templates to accommodate this change. For now, please edit the Internal Budget: Five Year Federal (NIH) budget template as needed if you are opting to use the new cap.
