On January 19, 2021, Kuali Protocols, the online IRB submission system that will replace KC IRB, will go live*. Effective January 19th, all new human subjects study submissions, amendments, renewals, reportable events, and study closures must be created and submitted in Kuali Protocols. A variety of training opportunities will be offered in January shortly before and after go-live. Additional information regarding training will be provided on the Kuali Protocols webhub and via email in December.
From January 11th through January 18th, the IRB office will not accept any new submissions. This one-week submission freeze is necessary to allow migration of existing studies from KC IRB to Kuali Protocols. Please plan ahead to ensure submissions are made as far in advance of the January 11th deadline as possible, ideally by the end of December. This will allow HRPP staff time to review your submission and conduct an IRB review before the cutover date. Only approved studies and submissions will be transitioned into Kuali Protocols. For more information on how the transition will impact unapproved submissions, the improvements Kuali Protocols offers, and many more details, visit the Kuali Protocols webhub.
Note that because Microsoft no longer actively supports Internet Explorer, users may experience difficulties accessing Kuali Protocols using Internet Explorer. For the best experience, we recommend using one of the following browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, or Safari. If you currently use Internet Explorer as your default browser, please contact your IT support professional to ensure you have access to one of the recommended browsers by January 19th.
*Development and testing of Kuali Protocols is ongoing. While the HRPP considers the dates listed to be official, they are subject to change.
