Subrecipient Monitoring

Why is subrecipient monitoring required?

IU projects receiving federal funding may have subrecipients or subawardees, entities that receive funds to perform part of the work associated with the awarded project. If IU issues a subrecipient agreement under a federal or federal pass-through award, the university must monitor subrecipients to assure compliance with federal and university regulations and policies.

Monitoring includes expectations of the principal investigator, fiscal officer, and the Office of Research Administration.

Subrecipient risk assessment

Subrecipient relationships involve a certain amount of risk. The risk level of a subrecipient is determined by the Office of Research Administration.
