As we start the new academic year with a return to campus, I want to take time to thank you for your many contributions to our thriving research enterprise at IUPUI. In my role as the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education, I am dedicated to helping our faculty and staff advance their research as well as supporting the academic and research success of our talented graduate and professional students. Our research team in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research in Indianapolis is poised to support and assist you in your research and scholarly endeavors. I encourage you to become familiar with and take advantage of our many events and programs. From finding funding to proposal development services, our goal is to connect you with the resources and opportunities that will bolster and advance your research programs and creative activities.
I'd like to also extend a personal invitation to you to join us for the annual Research Onboarding Orientation (ROBO) Part 1 on September 29th. Presented virtually and especially designed with new and junior faculty in mind, this signature event is also appropriate for anyone who wants more information and insight about the resources available for scholars and researchers at IUPUI. Participants will have the opportunity to join multiple breakout room conversations led by staff from the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Compliance, Innovation and Commercialization Office, Office of Business Partners, and University Library. There also will be an opportunity to network with senior hear faculty discuss how they were able to navigate and take advantage of the expanding research services and support to achieve success in moving their research and creative activities forward. Please also recommend ROBO Part 1 to your graduate and professional students engaged in research, as they too should find information that will be helpful to their success and career development.
In addition to ROBO Part 1, I am happy to share that OVCR will partner with colleagues from across the campus to offer ROBO 2, which is a series of four workshops that will run throughout October. The topics are Community Engaged and Translational Research at IUPUI, IUPUI Centers and Institutes, Faculty-mentored Student Research, and IUPUI Research Services and Cores. Please visit the ROBO website and register for both Part 1 and Part 2 offerings.
As always, we welcome your input and feedback on how we might better support you as you strive to attain research success. Please feel free to contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your thoughts, and we will do our best to accommodate. I wish you a productive, rewarding, and successful year, and look forward to learning about your achievements.
