The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued Notice NOT-OD-26-018 announcing their implementation of Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support effective for proposals with due dates on or after January 25, 2026.
Notice Highlights:
- New Requirement: All applications, JIT, RPPR, and prior approval submissions must use the Common Forms and NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement beginning January 25, 2026.
- SciENcv Use: Forms must be completed and digitally certified in SciENcv; ORCID iD linkage to eRA Commons is required.
MFTRP Certification: Senior/key personnel must certify they are not party to a Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program at application and annually in RPPR.
Transition Timeline:
- Submissions due before Jan 24, 2026 → continue using current NIH Biosketch and Other Support formats
- Submissions due on/after Jan 25, 2026 → required to use Common Forms
- By Feb 6, 2026, incorrect forms will trigger errors preventing submission
To assist with the transition, ORA will host a NIH Common Forms Training & Demonstration via zoom on January 8th at 2:00pm (Zoom Link). The training is open to any interested faculty or staff and no registration is required. The event will be recorded and added to the ORA Training Resources section of the website for those unable to attend.
