As announced in April (Get Ahead of New Federally-Mandated Research Training Requirement), federal funding agencies have begun implementing the research security program requirements set forth in National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 and the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, Section 10634, requiring research security training for senior/key personnel listed on an application for a research and development award. Completion of this training is required by the federal agencies prior to proposal submission. Effective August 28, 2025, all senior/key personnel included in the Kuali Coeus (KC) Proposal Development Document must have completed research security training in order to submit any federal or federal pass-through proposal into routing.
We encourage individuals that will be listed as senior/key personnel to complete the research security training module as soon as possible.
Access to Training: IU Research Security Training Module
Estimated time to complete the training is 1 hour, but it can be completed in a shorter time by adjusting the playback speed.
Data on training completion will be tracked and linked to KC so that it may be confirmed at the time of proposal submission. If you have questions about the research security training, please reach out to rsohelp@iu.edu.
