The IU Grand Challenges program tackles major and large-scale problems facing humanity that can only be addressed by multidisciplinary teams of the best researchers. IU is pioneering the approach of pairing faculty and students from all disciplines in partnership with community and business leaders.
The university is funding these comprehensive research initiatives with an overall investment of $300 million, including base funding for many new faculty lines.
