Anantha Shekhar is director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, located at the IU School of Medicine on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He is also the Executive Associate Dean for Research Affairs, August M. Watanabe Professor of Medical Research, and Professor of Psychiatry, of Neurobiology and of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the IU School of Medicine, Associate Vice President for University Clinical Affairs at IU, and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs for Clinical Research at IU Health. Dr. Shekhar’s areas of expertise include translational research spanning both basic and clinical research. His specific research focus is on stress, anxiety, and neuropsychiatric disorders. He has several grants from the National Institutes of Health, private foundations, and commercial collaborations that currently support his research.
