Scott Michaels is a distinguished molecular geneticist and academic leader at Indiana University Bloomington. After earning his B.S. in Chemistry from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and completing both his Ph.D. and postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, he joined IU’s Department of Biology in 2003. Over the years, he has advanced through the ranks—serving as associate chair for research and facilities, leading the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics, and ultimately becoming chair of Biology. Since January 2024, he has served as Associate Vice President for Centrally Administered Centers and Core Facilities in IU Research, through which he helps oversee key research infrastructure and promote strategic growth across the university’s core services and institutes.
