The Polish Studies Center has been in operation for over 25 years as a unit of the Office of International Programs at Indiana University in Bloomington. Traditionally, the center's mission has involved promoting the study of Poland and things Polish at IU and beyond, administering exchange programs with Warsaw University and the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and creating a climate for dialogue between Polish and American scholars specializing in a variety of disciplines related to Poland, its history, and its diverse cultures.
Although the Polish Studies Center is not a degree-granting program, it cooperates closely with the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, the Russian and East European Institute, and other units, by offering extracurricular activities related to Polish literature, language, music, theater, art, history, political science, economics, business, journalism, and other disciplines. These activities include conferences, book publications, lectures, readings, performances, movie showings, and the weekly Polish tea hour. The Center aims for a balance among academic, cultural, and social programming.
For details on Center programming please check http://www.indiana.edu/~polishst/. The Polish Studies Center welcomes all inquiries related to Poland and Polish studies at Indiana University.
