The Institute for Soviet Successor-State Education was established by the School of Education to encourage research and scholarly debate on education in the USSR. ISRE publishes the ISRE Newsletter on Russian and East European Education twice yearly. The Newsletter provides recent information about activities taking place in Russia and the other former Soviet republics; it publishes scholarly books and articles about education in Russia; it participates in projects aimed at the reform of Russian education; and it acts as a broker between Russian scholars and American educators who wish to pursue joint projects.
