The Center for Health and Safety Studies serves as the research and service arm of the Department of Applied Health Science, coordinating and supporting research and creative activity for the department's faculty and students. Ongoing projects include evaluation of comprehensive school health education programs, research into strategies for smoking and alcohol education, public health education, surveys of college student alcohol use, HIV/AIDS education, and other topics.
