The Center for Enhancing Quality of Life in Chronic Illness (CEQL) was originallyfunded by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) at NIH to promote excellence in nursing research CEQL is now supported by the Sally Reahard Foundation and by Indiana University School of Nursing. CEQL is composed of three core areas: the administrative core, the biostatistics core, and the research development and dissemination core.

CEQL's overall goal is to advance knowledge related to improving the health-related quality of life (HRQL) in persons with chronic conditions across the life span. Pilot and/or feasibility studies are a major component of CEQL, and these studies are intended to enable eligible investigators to explore problems within the scientific area of inquiry (quality of life in persons with chronic illness) and amass sufficient data to pursue other external funding mechanisms.
